A kayaking course is an investment for the future, as it gives you a summer full of exploration at your own pace. The freedom we experience from taking our kayaks, packing a tent and setting out for adventure is fantastic. And something we love to share and teach. Our kayak courses in Stockholm are a quick, safe & professional way to get started with kayaking in Stockholm’s famous archipelago or any other destination.
Criteria: Our courses follow the Euro Paddle Pass (EPP) criteria which is the internationally recognized standard in Europe.
Location: We have two kayak bases, one in Björnö and one in Svärdsklova. Where we paddle depends much on conditions.
Kayaks: There’s all kinds of kayaks available, from wide plastic kayaks to streamlined fiberglass kayaks. Let us know if you have a specific wish.
Our courses are designed so you can pick one or do both. They can be organized as single-day trips or as a 3-day trip with nights out camping in the archipelago.

This is a full day course in the archipelago. It is possible to book course yellow & green together as a 3-day trip whilst camping out in the archipelago.

For whom?
This is an entry level kayak course for first-timers and beginners. During this class we lay a solid foundation to build upon. We cover a broad variety of topics and make sure to tick off all the basics, such as paddle technique, steering etc.
Course requirements
No prior experience is required, just an interest to get going with kayaking.
Course goal
Yellow Paddle Pass.
To be able to confidently carry out your own trip without guide in sheltered waters such as lakes or sheltered archipelago. You should be able to paddle, control the kayak and plan a basic route to ensure a fun & safe day out on the water.
Course plan
- Understanding the boat's main elements and how to inspect them before a safe recreational kayaking trip (rudder etc)
- Understanding safety equipment & how to use it
- Entering & exiting the kayak
- Ergonomic sitting position & paddle technique
- Braking with use of your paddle
- Steering with paddle and rudder
- Capsizing and getting to land (voluntarily)
- Buddy rescue (voluntarily)
- Kayaking and traffic

For this course we will meet two times: an evening during the week in the waters of Stockholm, as well as a full day in the archipelago. It is possible to book course yellow & green together as a 3-day trip whilst camping out in the archipelago.

For whom?
This is an intermediate level kayaking course for intermediate kayakers or experienced beginners. During this class we develop our skills from an already existing foundation and dig deeper into for example navigating and maneuvering. We will also learn some new skills and learn how to deal with emergency situations.

The completion of our (yellow) entry level course / yellow paddle pass / skill level matching all points mentioned in the course content of our (yellow) entry level course.
Course goal
Green Paddle Pass.
To be able to confidently carry out your own trip without guide in varying conditions & areas such as the middle archipelago with shorter open water passages. You should be able to paddle, control the kayak and plan a basic route to ensure a fun & safe day out on the water.

This is an intensive course which covers all material of the yellow & green courses in a three-day package. We will spend three full days in the archipelago with nights camping out in the archipelago. On request we can arrange three separate day trips or nights at an archipelago accommodation as well.

For whom?
For those who wish to learn as much about kayaking as possible as quickly as possible whilst having a great time! We start from the basics and work all the way up to intermediate level during this action-packed course.
Course requirements
No prior experience is required, but some kayaking experience is a merit so you can get more out of the course. If you never been in a kayak you can for example look at out 2/3h evening trip in Stockholm.

Booking

Our courses have student- and youth discounts. These only apply with:
Student: valid student- and ID cards. Does not apply for PHD students. Max age 25.
